Primary Purpose

Leads the design and delivery of mediumcomplexity projects, translating audience and stakeholder needs into cohesive visuals that improve engagement and results. Designs on-brand marketing communications that effectively engage and inform millions of customers as well as thousands of employees across departments and programs. This includes crafting clear, consistent messaging for both mandated programs and company-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization's values, goals, and visual identity. By tailoring communication strategies to diverse audiences, the designer drives program adoption, boosts employee engagement, and reinforces the company's reputation across channels. This role is an integral part of the Strategic Communications & Engagement team that requires close collaboration with project owners in both Marketing and Employee Communications to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Design deliverables produced in this role play a critical part in supporting both the strategic vision and operational goals across all of Sempra's companies, driving impactful communication and reinforcing the company's brand and mission.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Utilizes dedicated project management systems such as Monday.com to manage daily communications and collaboration, produce printed material, and store final files.
  • Works closely with Marketing and Employee Communications teams (project owners) to deliver assets that align with the branding guidelines.
  • Performs on-call emergency response design and communications during the assigned week.
  • Takes ownership of projects, balancing multiple inputs to solve design problems and deliver creative, well-designed outcomes.
  • Leads collaborative design discussions for assigned briefs and develops compelling, brandaligned visual narratives across media.
  • Presents design rationale to stakeholders and works to build consensus on direction.
  • Ensures quality control of deliverables and resolves complex layout or production issues ahead of release.
  • Stays current on tools and best practices; pilots improvements that raise creative output quality.
  • May review work and provides clear art direction and constructive feedback to less experienced designers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education


  • Required: Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Preferred: Degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Visual Communication, Creative Advertising, Digital Marketing, or related field of study is preferred.



Experience


  • Required: Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in brand design, marketing, and communications across both print and digital channels is preferred.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Required: Graphic Design - The process of visual communication and problem-solving through the use of typography, photography, and illustration.
  • Required: Image Editing - The processes of altering images, includes adjusting image ratio, exposure, contrast, color vibrancy and saturation etc.
  • Required: Project Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
  • Required: Storytelling - Communicating information, tailored to a specific audience, with a compelling narrative.
  • Required: Typography - The art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed.
  • Required: Visual Design - Uses imagery, color, shapes, typography, and form to enhance usability and improve the user experience.
  • Required: Design Operations Management - the intentional operationalization and optimization of design. It focuses on designing the design practice and building a systematic framework that allows design to succeed at scale.
  • Required: The body of law governing the rights, relations, and conduct of persons, companies, organizations and businesses.
  • Preferred: Highly skilled with Adobe Creative Suite products, Microsoft Office, and digital asset management systems.
  • Preferred: Successful track record of assessing priorities and working well under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
