Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students. The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.
In support of its mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure housing options where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported, University Housing engages staff members in competency-based training and students in curriculum-based engagement focused on community building, interpersonal skills, social awareness and responsibility, and well-being. |

| Position Summary |
The Access Control Coordinator for University Housing serves as a key coordinating resource, ensuring the security and integrity of all residential facilities' security and access control systems. This position blends the coordination of administrative, operational, and technical support functions-including access credential management, records maintenance, and basic troubleshooting-with a strong emphasis on collaboration across internal and external partners. The incumbent coordinates daily operations and supports continuous improvement of access control for all University Housing facilities. In addition, this role provides direct support for emergency access needs in coordination with campus safety teams, offers administrative coordination to Security Systems and Access Control Integrators and Locksmiths, assists in managing student staff, and serves as a liaison between building occupants, facilities management, and technical/security staff. |

- Understanding of electronic and mechanical access systems, key management, and basic physical security protocols.
- Proficiency in using access control software, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail for maintaining and auditing records; ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills; ability to provide courteous and effective service to a diverse community.

- The designation of Essential Personnel Pool will be reviewed annually during the performance evaluation period to ensure alignment with operational needs.

Operational, Technical and Administrative Coordination
- Coordinate and schedule access to spaces for repairs, maintenance, or system upgrades.
- Notify building occupants of upcoming system work or interruptions.
- Assist with basic system tests under technician/integrator direction (e.g., swiping cards, reporting door status, checking lock function).
- Relay user-reported issues and access logs to technical staff as needed.
- Respond to access issues during normal business hours.
- Provide first-line troubleshooting for access hardware/software and escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Coordinate the Security Systems and Access Control preventative maintenance program, ensuring all system components are regularly inspected, tested, and serviced for optimal performance and compliance.
- Coordinate the camp/conference card program, including coordination, issuance, and management of temporary access credentials for camps, conferences, and special events.
- Serve as a coordinating liaison between building occupants, Facilities Management, systems technicians, and technical/security staff to communicate project schedules, access changes, and resolve access issues.
- Coordinate and support emergency access needs in collaboration with campus safety teams, University Police, and Housing staff.
- Assist in managing, scheduling, and providing guidance to student staff supporting access control operations.
