Position Overview:

The Assistant Vice President, Development (AVP) drives all aspects of operationalizing and executing development and fundraising strategy for the organization. This position partners closely with internal and external stakeholders to create new relationships and strengthen existing relationships to drive fundraising revenue streams for Vibrant. The AVP of Development will have a portfolio of donors and work in partnership with the Chief Development Officer to implement strategy. This position will drive development and manage timelines, budgets, reporting metrics and fundraising technology initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Driving year-over-year growth across multiple revenue streams including corporate partners, family foundations, government grants, major donors, and digital fundraising as well as other revenue opportunities such as peer-to-peer fundraising, sponsorships, partnerships and events.

  • Work in partnership with Chief Development Officer to create and operationalize a three-year strategic fundraising plan.

  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and partners.

  • Manage and set goals and objectives for the development function.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and will work across the team to build the donor base at all giving levels.

  • Work closely with Chief Development Office and members of the Executive Leadership Team to steward current major donor relationships, nurture high-capacity donors to significantly increase their gifts, and engage new prospects and new audiences.

  • Develop sophisticated strategies for donor engagement including prospecting, creating briefings, submitting proposals, impact reports, and debriefing materials for all meetings.

  • Build strong relationships with the programs team to acquire the information needed to understand priorities and funding needs and develop compelling proposals and reports for funders.

  • Work with Technology and Finance functions to ensure effective systems and protocols to effectively manage CRM and reporting.

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of proposals, reports and required materials.

  • Prepare regular reports on performance, including revenue, expenses, and return on investment, and provide updates to senior leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, legal regulations, and industry best practices in fundraising and donor stewardship.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate and elevate Vibrant's vision, mission, goals, and needs to diverse audiences and inspire engagement in becoming donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners; increase donor loyalty and engagement.

  • Principled, ethical, professional, and committed to exceptional work quality and standards.

  • Highly organized, creative, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize with superior time management and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong managerial skills.

  • Ability to meet short deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, professionally rigorous environment.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, accurately, and concisely.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Public Healthcare.

  • 8-10+ years of fundraising in nonprofit sector, raising over $10M annually.

  • 5+ years managing high performing fundraising teams.

  • A successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors, corporate partners and foundations.

  • Experience working in a very fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

  • Experience with government grants preferred.

  • Experience in healthcare and/or mental health preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time

  • Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders as well as team members

  • Will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

We determine base pay through a comprehensive review of skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and other relevant factors. The range listed reflects the compensation parameters for the role and does not represent the full compensation package.
