Overview

As a Civil Designer - Engineering Assistant with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Charleston, West Virginia or Bridgeport, West Virginia office, you'll play a key role in collaborating with multi-disciplined project teams to create detailed plans that support our clients' projects. This role offers the opportunity to leverage your experience across a wide variety of markets, including industrial, water resources, oil & gas, real estate, power, mining, private, and public sectors.

CEC Charleston is part of our West Virginia operations, which also includes offices in Bridgeport and Martinsburg. Opened in December 2023, CEC Charleston was born out of an opportunity to further serve the state of West Virginia. We're ranked #1 in West Virginia on the 2024 ENR Mid-Atlantic Top Design Firms List. We are excited to present a full suite of engineering and environmental services to the region. Our services include all aspects of civil/site engineering, construction inspection, geotechnical engineering, surveying, and water resources.

Responsibilities:

    Develop site layout plans in accordance with local ordinance requirements
  • Create alignments, profiles, and site grading designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Prepare earthwork volume calculations
  • Develop post construction stormwater management, stormwater conveyance, and erosion and sedimentation control designs and prepare the supporting calculations and reports
  • Prepare drawing sets (from conceptual planning to final design and construction)
  • Design sanitary sewers and prepare Sewage Facility Planning Modules
  • Conduct utility coordination and design onsite utility connections
  • Prepare earth disturbance, municipal, and other permitting/approval applications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Engineering Design experience
  • Associate's or technical degree in CAD, Construction, or Engineering or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field
  • Strong knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required. Proficiency with Civil 3D is strongly preferred
  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and other computer modeling software is a plus
  • Ability to evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges
