The Private Credit business at Goldman Sachs Asset Management is one of the world's largest private credit investing platforms with approximately $145bn of AUM and investment professionals based in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. The Private Credit business originates investments across senior secured loans, mezzanine/unsecured debt, preferred equity and opportunistic credit and invests both the firm's capital and capital raised from outside investors across a wide range of industries.

Direct Lending Americas ("DLAM") Associate Role - NYC

The Direct Lending Americas ("DLAM") team originates, executes and manages credit investments across the Firm's senior loan and mezzanine strategies in the Americas. DLAM focuses primarily on sponsor-backed transactions for middle market to large cap companies across a wide range of industries. DLAM's scale allows us to play a leadership role in transactions, either as the sole or largest lender in a capital structure. This facilitates organic relationship development with sponsors and management teams.

Associates work as part of small deal teams responsible for identifying, diligencing, structuring, executing and monitoring investments, and are involved in a wide variety of high profile transactions across the capital structure in a variety of industries.

Responsibilities:

* Support investment ideas across the product suite of Private Credit via early engagement with relevant parties (e.g., financial sponsors / company management teams for the private-side investing platforms)

* Engaging in all aspects of due diligence and business analysis to develop and refine investment theses

* Participating in structuring, negotiating and documenting investments

* Communicating and defending investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees, including relevant Private Credit Investment Committees

* Actively monitoring existing investments in the portfolio

* Building relationships with sponsors, management teams and internal GS stakeholders

Qualifications:

* Undergraduate Bachelor's degree required; Minimum of 2 years of Investment Banking (Leveraged Finance, Industry Coverage or M&A preferred) or Principal Investing experience

* Passion for investing with specific interest in credit / other structured products

* Strong quantitative, financial modeling, analytical and problem-solving skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Flexible and creative mindset; ability to analyze a variety of industries and businesses

* Ability to self-direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgments

* Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people
