Senior Civil Engineer 1 - Water/Wastewater Treatment (Project Manager / Lead Engineer) (On-Site)

Locations (On-Site): South Dakota (SD); North Dakota (ND); Nebraska (NE); Iowa (IA); Missouri (MO); Kansas (KS); Wisconsin (WI); Montana (MT)

IMEG Corp. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer 1 to lead water and wastewater treatment design and delivery efforts as a Project Manager and/or Lead Engineer. This role will manage moderate to complex projects independently and lead larger, high-complexity projects with limited support from senior staff. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and trusted client advice that drives positive outcomes.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.

  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal development, as well as support contract reviews.

  • Create project schedules, including milestone targets and deadlines.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams and clients.

  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly.

  • Ensure design follows owner standards/requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements; ensure milestone deliverables are achieved, quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs on time.

  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate project scheduling through all phases of design and construction; schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation.

  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested.

  • Respond to and resolve client/construction concerns; manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals.

  • Mentor, train, motivate, and lead others.

  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership traits aligned with the Project Management career path.

  • Strong technical competence and analytical ability in civil engineering (with water/wastewater treatment emphasis).

  • Ability to perform final quality control checks within your area of expertise.

  • Ability to sell work and develop/maintain client relationships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills; eager to adapt to new challenges.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to travel up to 20%, with occasional overnight stays.

Education & Experience

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) required.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • 7+ years required (8 preferred) in civil design and consulting.
