Job Summary

Do you see yourself leading a successful construction team?

Exclusive Paving has an opening for an experienced upbeat Construction Superintendent for the Interior of Alaska. The qualified candidate will be experienced in State of AK DOT work. The Superintendent will forecast the number of employees, materials, and equipment needed to efficiently perform assigned project(s) while being aligned with all safety standards.

The successful candidate will supervise multiple areas of the ongoing projects to ensure that they are completed within budget, on time, and following all safety precautions. Candidate must have experience with State of AK DOT work and large project operations management.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure specifications within the project proposal and plans are followed.
  • Meet with the client representative (customer) in order to confirm quantities daily.
  • Review job schedules and cost breakdowns, resolving any potential issues with the PM prior to work progression.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager (PM) so that all contractual obligations are being met.
  • Keep progress schedule current, review schedule status and job costs at a minimum of once a week.
  • With the assistance of the PM ensure that all change orders and force accounts are properly completed and documented.
  • Attend pre-construction and construction meetings, any issues or concerns relating to the project will be documented and shared with the PM.
  • Coordinates with the Safety team and HR to ensure all company and government safety regulations are being met.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professional ethics.
  • Coordinates with Project Engineers and Lead to ensure the progression of projects in a timely manner while being heavily involved with day-to-day allocation of resources.
  • Delegate tasks to be completed by Lead and regulates the completion of successful day-to-day operations.
  • Resolves issues that arise throughout the projects.
  • Communicates with subcontractors and other employees to ensure the procurement of supplies and materials as needed.
  • Verifies accurate inventory of materials and equipment.
Education

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related and 5-7 years of proven ability OR 10 years of proven ability in management of large projects and DOT experience.

Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans, specifications, external and internal policies and guidelines, and/ or regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to large groups and interact with managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Basic computer knowledge including knowledge of email, Power point, MS Word, Excel, and internet applications. Ability to learn corporate programs: HCSS, JDE, ONBASE etc.
Physical Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment/random drug screening and a PAT (physical abilities test).
  • May occasionally exert force of 20-50 pounds, 10-25 pounds frequently, or 10 pounds constantly.
