Job Description

Pay: $132,000 - $140,000

Work Schedule: Full-Time; Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (must be flexible to work after hours, weekends as needed)

Full-Time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. In addition, these positions are eligible for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, holiday, floating holiday, jury duty, and bereavement leave. All employees may also make pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan - must be 18 years of age to participate.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director II, Infrastructure, Operations, and Security (IOS) is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and scalability of Goodwill of Colorado's (GoC) enterprise technology environment and information security. This position supports GoC's multi-site operations across the State, including 50+ retail locations and several community program locations.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership for infrastructure platforms, cloud services, information security, end-user computing, and Information Technology (IT) operations. The Director ensures that core technology services remain highly available for the various organizational functions, particularly frontline retail operations. They enable the broader mission through disciplined processes, strong partnerships, and continuous improvement.

The leader in this role will supervise several technology professionals and ensure the effective operation of the company's networks, servers, other technology equipment, infrastructure as a service/platform as a service (IaaS/PaaS) environments, databases, end-user computing, information security, and the help/service desk. They will partner and work closely with the Director, Enterprise Applications and Solution Engineering and other members of the IT leadership team, finding opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing innovative solutions that advance the company's growth and mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategy, Cross-Functional Collaboration, and Leadership:



  • Partner with the Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT) to align infrastructure, technology operations, and security strategies with organizational goals and priorities. Contribute to IT strategy and short-and long-term planning.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT leaders and teams, including applications, data, enterprise architecture, project management, business systems analysis, and quality assurance, to ensure infrastructure and security capabilities enable delivery.
  • Lead and develop infrastructure, operations, security, and support teams. Establish clear roles, performance expectations, and development paths.
  • Actively build relationships and partner with business departments outside of IT, such as Retail Operations, Finance, Human Resources (HR), Risk, Facilities, and Executive Leadership.
  • Manage infrastructure and operations budgets with strong financial discipline. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements. Optimize costs through lifecycle management, vendor negotiation, and cost controls.
  • Establish practices and standard operating procedures that support reliability, security, and scalability, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective communication during incidents, changes, and major initiatives.
  • Position infrastructure and security teams as trusted partners and enablers, not just control or support functions. Participate in enterprise initiatives and projects to ensure infrastructure, operations, and security considerations are addressed early. Translate technical risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs into clear, business relevant terms.


Technology Infrastructure and Platform Management:



  • Design, implement, maintain, and support GoC's information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and services, including the data center, network, cloud-based services, and end-user computing. Work with other IT leaders and the VP of IT to increase the effective use of technology to enable effective operations, maximizing the availability and reliability of ICT services.
  • Own and manage the operation and full asset lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure, including networks (local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), wireless), servers and virtualization platforms, cloud services (IaaS/PaaS), enterprise databases, and storage platforms. Develop and execute multiyear asset replacement plans.
  • Lead operational and capacity planning and performance management, ensuring infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and cost-effective to support both centralized systems and distributed operations.
  • Work with functional and technology stakeholders to define requirements and implement new technology solutions. Coordinate with such teams to evaluate technologies, plan projects, and ensure smooth rollout of new systems.
  • Manage relevant vendor relationships, ensuring appropriate levels of delivery and service level agreement (SLA) compliance and staying appraised of vendor offerings. Develop and manage request for information (RFI) and request for proposals as needed.
  • Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions to identify opportunities for the company.


Multi-site Operations and Availability:



  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of technology services supporting 50+ retail, community program, and office locations spread across the State. Design and maintain infrastructure and support models that minimize downtime and disruption to company operations.
  • Establish and advance proactive monitoring, alerting, and escalation practices to quickly identify and resolve issues impacting retail locations. Promote measurement practices that drive a culture of data-driven decision making to further service, availability and optimization.
  • Partner with retail operations and business leaders to understand operational realities, peak periods, and service expectations. Team up with application, data, and analytics teams to ensure infrastructure effectively supports enterprise systems and reporting needs. Lead planning for redundancy, failover, and recovery for systems and services critical business continuity.
  • Direct the operation and governance of hybrid and cloud environments, including availability, security, performance, and cost management. Support phased rollouts, upgrades, and changes in a manner that reduces risk to GoC operations.
  • Regularly communicate with end-users, department heads, and executives regarding pertinent technology operations and infrastructure activities.


Information Security and Risk Management:



  • Provide enterprise leadership for information security, including:

    • Security architecture and controls
    • Identity and access management
    • Endpoint, network, and cloud security
    • Vulnerability management and monitoring
    • Security incident response and remediation


  • Ensure infrastructure and endpoint environments are secured consistently across retail locations and corporate sites.
  • Lead security risk assessments, compliance efforts, audits, and awareness initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to IT and business leadership on cybersecurity risk and mitigation strategies.


End-User Computing, Workplace Technology, and User Support:



  • Own the strategy and operations for end user computing environments, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, peripherals, and collaboration tools.
  • Ensure a secure, standardized, and productive technology experience for users across all environments, including work-from-home and remote locations.
  • Lead endpoint security, patching, configuration, and lifecycle practices.
  • Oversee day-to-day end-user computing support, including:

    • Help desk/service desk
    • End-user support
    • Device and endpoint management
    • Equipment procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management


  • Ensure timely, consistent, and high-quality support for employees, prioritizing customer experience. Establish and manage operational practices for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Drive continuous improvements in service reliability, responsiveness, and user satisfaction.


Other:



  • The incumbent must be adept with reprioritizing responsibilities depending on the needs of the organization. They may be assigned additional/different duties occasionally to help support the IT group and the company.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • In addition, industry certifications are preferred (e.g., ITIL, CISM, CISSP, PMP, infrastructure and cloud platform certifications such as those from VMware, Microsoft, and Cisco).


Experience:



  • 7+ years' experience leading enterprise technology infrastructure, operations, and security functions and teams.
  • 10+ years' experience and deep expertise in network and server infrastructure, cloud platforms (IaaS/PaaS), information security practices and tools, IT operations, application support, and service management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft server and client operating systems, Active Directory, Entra, Intune, VMware, Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, Veeam, IT Service Management (ITSM) systems, and other such enterprise platforms.
  • Experience managing hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of and experience with security and operational best practices.


Other



  • Excellent communication skills with abilities to present technical information in business-friendly terms and to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational accountability.
  • On-call availability.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed locations preferred.
  • Experience in mission-driven, nonprofit, retail, or education organizations a plus.
  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.
