Job Summary:
The Standard Cost Accounting Manager oversees the cost accounting function and serves as a strategic partner to Finance and Operations. This role is responsible for supervising
a team, developing and maintaining standard costs, analyzing large and complex data sets, and identifying, explaining, and communicating cost variances. The position plays a key role in driving business insight, optimizing costing processes, and supporting decision-making within a multi-location, multi-division, and multi-product line environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manage team members and provide leadership to ensure accuracy, accountability, and desired business results.
  • Oversee all areas of cost accounting, including standard cost development, maintenance, and oversight of other functions within the Standard Costing Team.
  • Serve as a strategic finance and operations partner, providing insights that help drive and shape business decisions.
  • Analyze large and complex data sets, translating results into actionable insights and executive-level messages.
  • Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) to support reporting, visualization, and performance analysis.
  • Lead change initiatives within the costing function, including reevaluating, building, and optimizing processes rather than simplymaintainingexisting ones.
  • Compile, analyze, and present reports related to the standard costing process, including variance analysis and trend reporting.
  • Assistwith the setup, tracking, reconciliation, and audit of inventory costs across multiple locations and product lines.
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to cost accounting and inventory.
  • Support job costing requirements for certain product lines and special projects.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Substantiate financial transactions by collaborating and communicating with cross-functional teams.
  • Work independently on projects for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), CFO, and Controller with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Experience & Qualifications:(Requiredor Preferred)


  • MinimumAssociate's degree in Accountingrequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Financepreferred
  • 4+ years of experience in cost accounting or a related fieldrequired
  • Experience supporting multi-location, multi-division, and/or multi-product line operations strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Finance and Operations to influence business outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills with experience working with large data sets
  • Proficiencywith data analytics and business intelligence tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present insights to executive leadership
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable acting as a change agent in a complex environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (advanced Excel skills preferred)
  • Prior experience with cloud-based accounting or ERP systems preferred


Work Environment:


  • Work is typically done indoors
  • Exposure may include sittingfrequently, carrying/lifting 10-40 pounds rarely, standing, walking, or climbing occasionally
