What You'll Do

As a Designer II, you'll transform markups and field information into accurate, coordinated construction documents-partnering with project managers, engineers, designers, and vendors to keep deliverables on schedule and aligned with standards. You'll deepen multidiscipline design skills while supporting quality from concept through construction.



  • Process drawings received from the architect into models that can be used by the design team.
  • Prepare electronic drawings with accuracy, neatness, and efficiency using industry software.
  • Assist in developing design approaches and concepts on assigned projects with guidance from
  • senior design staff.
  • Implement design requirements as relayed by the design team; perform system design layout
  • and sizing for assigned projects.
  • Assist with studies, load calculations, and equipment selection to fit the project design.
  • Identify issues with designs and communicate them to senior designers and engineers as they
  • arise.
  • Attend project update meetings with clients and team members; coordinate with owners,
  • architects, MEP disciplines, and CADD designers.
  • Perform collision checks in Navisworks and visually review plans for defects; document and
  • resolve clashes with the team.
  • Plan work and perform tasks in accordance with the manhour budget; keep project managers
  • informed of progress and risks.
  • Communicate with team members, project managers, other disciplines, and outside vendors to
  • obtain necessary information on drawings.
  • Assist with data collection and field verification; support onsite observations during
  • construction and coordinate design requirements with contractors and suppliers.
  • Help organize drawing sets into complete, wellstructured packages; support upkeep of project
  • design and construction files.
  • Learn to review shop drawings, record changes, and keep all disciplines informed of details and
  • schedules; track code/software updates and industry trends.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of team members by sharing best practices and standards.



Who We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:



  • Two-year technical degree in an applicable discipline plus three years applicable experience OR
  • five years applicable experience
  • Capable of reading and interpreting plans from other disciplines (i.e., architectural, structural,
  • civil, plumbing, electrical, mechanical)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and discipline specific engineering software (i.e.,
  • TRACE, HASS, and SKM).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of construction terminology and building design specifications; general knowledge of
  • applicable engineering disciplines.
  • General knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies; basic math proficiency.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively across disciplines and with external partners; clear
  • written communication and comprehension.
  • Detailoriented with sound judgment and decisionmaking; ability to follow direction and
  • incorporate feedback; organized and deadlinedriven.
