About the Role

We're seeking a Director of Human Resources who will lead our employee relations strategy and serve as a trusted advisor to leaders across the organization. This role is at the heart of our culture-guiding leaders through complex employee situations, ensuring fair and consistent practices, and fostering a workplace where people feel respected, supported, and empowered.

This is a highly visible, high-impact role that blends people leadership, compliance expertise, and emotional intelligence. You'll also play a key role in advancing our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts and leveraging technology - including AI tools - to enhance how we support our team.

What You'll Do

Lead Employee Relations & Influence Leadership


  • Serve as the primary advisor to leaders on employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
  • Conduct and oversee workplace investigations with sound judgment and strong documentation
  • Coach leaders through complex and sensitive situations
  • Ensure consistent, fair, and compliant employment practices across the organization


Champion Culture, Belonging & Engagement


  • Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and belonging
  • Support and enhance employee recognition and wellness initiatives
  • Advance DEI initiatives and support Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
  • Turn engagement insights into meaningful action


Drive HR Operations, Compliance & Innovation


  • Oversee HR operations including payroll, policies, and compliance with employment laws
  • Ensure strong processes, controls, and audit readiness
  • Leverage AI tools and data analytics to improve efficiency, enhance access to information, and inform decision-making


Partner on Workforce Strategy


  • Support workforce planning through staffing forecasts, organizational design, and budget analysis
  • Partner on compensation, succession planning, and engagement strategies
  • Use data and insights to guide business and talent decisions


What You Bring


  • 7-10+ years of progressive HR experience with deep expertise in employee relations and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and navigate complex, high-stakes situations
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • Experience leveraging AI tools or technology to improve HR operations and insights
  • Experience in a regulated industry (financial services preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree; HR certification preferred


Compensation and Benefits


  • $133,000 - $165,000 base salary
  • Up to 10% annual bonus
  • HMO, PPO, or HDHP/HSA medical options

California Pay Transparency

In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is $133,000 to $165,000 annually. This range represents the anticipated base salary for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
