R&D Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location Marlborough, MA (Hybrid)

Pay Up to $38.50/hr.

About the Role

Join a leading medical device organization supporting innovative urology products in a fast-paced acquisitions and integration environment. As an R&D Engineer, you'll play a critical role in evaluating and strengthening product designs by assessing Design History Files (DHF) and ensuring compliance with internal quality systems and global standards.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on mechanical testing, design verification, and data-driven decision-making.

What You'll Do



  • Execute design verification testing, feasibility studies, and test method development
  • Analyze product performance using mechanical testing and data logging tools
  • Review and remediate Design History Files (DHF) to meet quality standards
  • Support product development, design improvements, and technical documentation
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and technical findings to stakeholders
  • Develop clear engineering reports, specifications, and validation documentation
  • Evaluate alternative designs, materials, and processes for feasibility



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or related Engineering field
  • 1+ year of engineering experience (internships may apply)
  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Medical device testing & data logging
    • Instron or similar mechanical test equipment
    • Mechanical testing methods
    • Design History Files (DHF)


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
  • Ability to interpret data and make technical recommendations



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with test method validation and statistical analysis (Minitab)
  • Background in medical device verification testing
  • Familiarity with ISO 60601 standards
  • Experience working with cross-functional or global teams



Work Environment



  • Hybrid schedule: 3+ days onsite (may increase based on testing needs)
  • Up to 10% travel
