Cloud Platform Software Engineer (Contract)

Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid - 4 days onsite)

Pay: $46.06/hour

Position Overview

Join a high-impact Cloud Platform team supporting next-generation mobility solutions. This role focuses on designing, developing, and managing scalable platforms, APIs, and microservices within a cloud-native environment. You will play a key role in delivering customer-facing software and driving innovation across the platform ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support cloud-based platforms, APIs, and microservices
• Build Java/Spring Boot applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including Cloud Run, GKE, and Pub/Sub
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
• Apply Agile methodologies (Kanban/Jira), TDD, and CI/CD best practices
• Execute API performance testing, monitoring, and optimization
• Refactor and enhance microservices for scalability, reliability, and efficiency
• Utilize DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube) for deployment and code quality
• Participate in architecture discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and solution design
• Ensure secure, high-performing, and resilient cloud-based applications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 6+ years of experience in cloud-based software engineering
• Strong expertise in Java (11/17+), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Apigee/API Gateway
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and containerization (Kubernetes/GKE)
• Knowledge of API development (REST, JSON, Swagger, Postman)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete data

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js)
• Knowledge of service mesh (Istio), IAM, and cloud security best practices
• Experience in monitoring tools (Datadog, Dynatrace) and automated testing frameworks
