Responsibilities

The Analytic and Analyst Investigation Frameworks team is seeking a talented and motivated Cloud Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize highly available, cloud-native applications and infrastructure. You will leverage Kubernetes and modern cloud services to orchestrate complex, containerized microservices at scale, delivering robust, data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Development

    Design and implement resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud-native architectures.
  • Develop and maintain robust RESTful APIs and microservices using Java (Spring Boot) or Python.
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker, emphasizing optimized image layering, security, and performance.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
  • Create interactive, data-driven dashboards and visualization tools using modern front-end frameworks such as React or Solid.

Orchestration & Data Pipelines

  • Orchestrate complex services within a Kubernetes environment, managing deployments, ingress controllers, service meshes, and stateful workloads.
  • Design and implement distributed data pipelines to ingest, process, and store high-volume data efficiently.
  • Ensure seamless data flow between cloud storage, microservices, and application layers while maintaining high availability.

Testing, CI/CD & Reliability

  • Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable software delivery.
  • Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and cloud-readiness tests.
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks in production environments.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with data architects, DevOps teams, and product managers to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Produce clear documentation of architectural patterns, deployment workflows, and operational procedures.


Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
  • Five (5) or more years of directly related software engineering or cloud development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desired and may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Cloud Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate
  • AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
  • Elastic Certified Engineer

*Possession of a valid cloud certification will be verified during the interview or offer process.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Solid understanding of web application frameworks and microservice architectures.
  • Proven experience building and managing data processing pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desired Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including Pods, Services, Namespaces, and resource management.
  • Experience with Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs).
  • Familiarity with distributed streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka) and graph databases (e.g., Neo4j).
  • Expertise in cloud monitoring and observability tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks, such as Apache Spark, is a plus.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
