We are seeking a Communications Editor to support the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) CIO, IT Integration Division (CIO-1). This position supports the review, editing, and production of written communications and marketing content across the CIO enterprise, contributing to media planning, process improvement, and quality assurance of all editorial deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of integrated media plans, advertising, marketing campaigns, and creative strategies for brand advocacy across the CIO enterprise

  • Manage project documentation, lead team meetings, drive process improvements, and ensure quality and consistency in project delivery

  • Review, edit, and proofread CIO products including instructions, guidance, white papers, briefings, and official correspondence, ensuring adherence to the DIA Style Manual for Intelligence Production, 508 Accessibility compliance, and DIA briefing templates

  • Collaborate with leadership and technical teams to support strategic communications, oversee content integration, and ensure compliance with Agency editorial standards

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (CI Poly preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, technical editing, project management, or a closely related field, with at least a portion of that experience within the last 2 years

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related discipline from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

  • Comprehensive mission knowledge with demonstrated ability to communicate understanding from complex, indirect, or technically advanced information

  • Familiarity with DIA Style Manual for Intelligence Production or comparable IC/DoD editorial standards

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel will be required within Washington National Capital Region (NCR) on an as-needed basis for customer or corporate requirements.

Level of Responsibility:

  • Work includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment concerning matters of administrative/operational needs.

Level of Supervision Required:

  • The supervisor sets the overall objectives and resources available. The employee plans and carries out the assignment resolves most of the conflicts, coordinates work with others and interpret policy on own initiative. The employee keeps the supervisor informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate within a team environment.

  • Ability to type, sitting or standing, to complete work functions for hours at a time; ability to move between sitting, standing and walking on a frequent basis.

  • This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week on site, Monday through Friday, within the contract hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Salary Range: $115k - $130k

The salary range is provided in good faith and is based on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, Federal Government contract labor category requirements, contract wage determinations when applicable, clearance requirements, work location, relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, internal equity, and approved funding.
For proposal-contingent positions, the listed range is an anticipated good-faith range based on current proposal assumptions. Final compensation may vary based on contract award, finalized customer requirements, approved funding, labor category alignment, and candidate qualifications.
