The Director of Workers' Compensation, Fleet, and Teammate Safety is a crucial leadership role within DaVita's Justice League of DaVita (JLD) Defenders team. This leader is responsible for the strategic direction and operational oversight of the Village's workers' compensation and auto claims programs, the management of DaVita's corporate fleet program, and the continuous improvement of our Teammate (TM) Safety initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a strong people leader who aligns with DaVita's Core Values and has a proven track record in claims advocacy, risk mitigation, and occupational safety.

Key Responsibilities Workers' Compensation & Auto Claims Leadership
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of claims supervisors, analysts, and specialists handling workers' compensation and auto liability claims.

  • TPA Management: Oversee the relationship and performance guarantee program with our Third-Party Claims Administrator, ensuring optimal claims management, early intervention, and cost containment.

  • Claims Advocacy & Management: Oversee the end-to-end claim lifecycle including claim intake, medical and disability management, reserve authority, and settlement negotiations.

  • Return-to-Work (RTW) Coordination: Drive and expand the enterprise RTW process to decrease time away from work, reduce indemnity benefits, and support injured teammates.

Fleet Program Management
  • Fleet Oversight: Oversee DaVita's corporate fleet program, guiding the Fleet Coordinator in managing vehicle rosters, and registration and DOT compliance.

  • Auto Claims: Manage the resolution of auto claims, ensuring proper coordination with auto liability insurance carriers and internal stakeholders.

  • Driver Safety: Implement and enforce driver safety initiatives to reduce auto liability risks.

Teammate (TM) Safety Oversight
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with OSHA and EPA standards. Lead the response strategy for OSHA complaints, citations, and on-site inspections.

  • Safety Reporting & Analytics: Oversee state-specific regulatory reporting, annual OSHA logs and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) surveys. Utilize Anaplan and Tableau to track TM injury trends and provide quarterly reporting for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) dashboard.

  • Program Development: Direct the Village's TM Safety initiatives, including the Safety Leader Program, safety training curricula via StarLearning, and the management of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Risk Mitigation: Evaluate and implement targeted injury prevention projects, such as the slip-resistant shoe program, safe patient handling, and ergonomics.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant industry designations (e.g., ARM, CSP, CPCU) strongly preferred.

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in risk management, workers' compensation claims administration.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of multi-state workers' compensation laws, OSHA regulations, and commercial auto/fleet liability.

  • Vendor Management: Proven experience managing Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and partnering with insurance brokers.

The Salary Range for the role is $119,000.00 - $172,000.00/year.
