This organization plays a critical role in keeping goods moving-from raw materials to finished products-through a network that spans transportation, warehousing, and value-added services.

The Staff Accountant will support core accounting functions within a complex, high-volume environment. This role is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of financial data tied to operational activity, while also contributing to process improvements across accounting workflows.

This position is well-suited for someone who is comfortable working within large-scale, transaction-heavy environments, including those that involve manual processes, and who can identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities



  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and operational adjustments
  • Support month-end close processes across multiple entities and business units
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies tied to high-volume transactional data
  • Collaborate with operations, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages
  • Maintain and improve documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Identify and drive process improvements, particularly within manual or semi-automated workflows
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-5+ years of accounting experience. It's a plus if industry experience is in logistics, transportation, distribution, or other high-volume industries
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Experience working with large data sets and transaction-heavy environments
  • Exposure to ERP systems (including legacy systems or environments with manual workarounds) preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
