Position summary:

The position of Apprentice Lineman shall be a person who has the desire and aptitude to become an Electric Journeyman Lineman through self-study and on the job training. The Apprentice Lineman will work under qualified Journeyman Linemen to learn the safe installation/rebuilding of overhead and underground power line construction, troubleshooting and the operation of heavy equipment including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, pulling and excavating equipment.

Pay Range: $43.76 - $58.35 per hour (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)

Reporting Relationship: Electric Operations Supervisor

Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming

Essential Functions:
* Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical lines and equipment.
* Learn proper procedures for climbing poles, operating bucket and digger/derrick trucks and using linework tools and safety gear.
* Set poles, string wire, install transformers, and connect service lines under supervision.
* Perform system inspections, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance tasks.
* Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols.
* Participate in on-call rotations and emergency outage restoration when required.
* Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe working condition.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Must be willing to work overtime.
* Must be able to travel on a minimal basis.
* All other duties as assigned.

What Is Required:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Minimum of 6 months of electric utility experience or other applicable work experience.
* Valid and in-state valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain as a condition of employment a valid Wyoming Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within 60 days.
* CDL - Group A - Commercial Driver's License for external candidate: Must have a valid Wyoming Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, with air brake endorsement upon hire.
* Must pass all apprenticeship lessons according to FJAC apprenticeship standards.
* Must be able to pass the examination as required by the FJAC apprentice committee at the end of each training period.
* Strong personal safety record and knowledge of safe work practices.
* Motivated, self-starter that can work independently or as part of a crew.
* Solid written and verbal communication skills.
* Positive attitude, agility, and willingness to learn new processes and procedures.
* Detailed oriented with great organizations skills. Have the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines at one time.
* Customer Service focused.
* This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.

What Is Desired:
* Completion of vocational/technical school program for line work or equivalent experience.
* General construction and utility operations.
* General equipment and machinery operations.
