Minitex (https://minitex.umn.edu/) is a state-funded library organization located at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. WORK LOCATION AND TRAVEL:

Position operates in a flexible work environment, with time required on site each week. Travel is required within Minnesota and occasionally to North Dakota, and South Dakota, as well as to national conferences - approximately 1-3 overnight trips in a year.

This position is a full-time, 12-month annual renewable, academic/professional position at the rank of Assistant Librarian.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: ALA-accredited master's degree in Library and Information Science or related field, or an advanced degree with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based setting where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion in a workplace setting, and/or in the community.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the types of collections typically found in a digital library.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated awareness of and the ability to articulate the overall steps involved in producing a digital library collection, beginning with the selection of materials, and ending with the launch of a new online resource.
  • 1-3 years experience in a cultural heritage organization.
  • Prior experience in one or more functional areas often involved in digital library initiatives, including but not necessarily limited to special collections and archives, digitization, metadata, library technical systems, or preservation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and/or formal training in project management, workflow optimization, or continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience with one or more digital library management systems such as CONTENTdm, Islandora, DSpace, or Omeka.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of standards-based non-MARC metadata schemas such as Dublin Core, Qualified Dublin Core, and MODS.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move and transport boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62,000 - $73,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Annual Renewal
