THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking aTechnical Writerto work and support the Architecture Team within Technology & Engineering. In this role, you will work closelywith architects and senior engineers across AMD to help develop and maintain technical documentation related to chiplet interconnects, memory interfaces, compute accelerators, and external I/O interconnects.

This position is wellsuited for an earlycareer technical writer who is eager to build deep technical knowledge in advanced silicon technologies while contributing to highquality internal and external documentation.

THE PERSON:

We are looking for a motivated technical writer with strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn complex technical concepts, and an interest in working closely with engineering teams. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and comfortable asking questions to ensure documentation accuracy and clarity. A commitment to continuous learning and improving technical communication skills is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in developing technical documentation, specifications, and presentations that explain complex hardware and architecture concepts in a clear and structured manner
  • Work with IP architects and a senior technical writer to support the creation and maintenance of architectural specifications and programmer references
  • Help integrate engineering collateral into singlesource documentation workflows for IP and architecture specifications
  • Support documentation efforts for chipletlevel specifications and hardware reference materials under guidance from senior team members
  • Participate in documentation reviews and incorporate feedback from architects, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Maintain and update documentation to reflect evolving specifications and design changes
  • Contribute to the team's knowledge base using tools such as Confluence Wiki and other collaboration platforms
  • Follow established documentation templates, style guidelines, and quality standards

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in technical writing (including internships, coops, or academic project work)
  • Handson experience with Adobe FrameMaker for structured technical documentation
  • Strong curiosity about next-generation computing including the use of artificial intelligence.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to learn and document complex technical topics with guidance from subjectmatter experts
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fastpaced engineering environment

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience using additional documentation tools (e.g., text editors, Markdown, XML, or version control systems)
  • Interest in learning about hardware or systemlevel documentation (e.g., SoCs, IP blocks, firmware, or lowlevel software)
  • Interest in working with I/O technologies such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, USB, CXL, SerDes, I2C, or I3C
  • Experience/knowledge in using C/C++ programming
  • Understand and be able to interpret architecture diagrams, block diagrams, or technical schematics - is a plus.
  • Interest in semiconductor technologies, chiplet architectures, or highperformance computing

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Entrylevel to earlycareer technical writing experience
