SUMMARY:

The Lead Advanced Practice Providers reports to the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology or designee and is accountable to facilitate a quality hospital experience and outcome for patients within a cost-effective time frame. Is responsible for overseeing the progress of a specific caseload of patients across the care continuum to include pre-admission and post-discharge when feasible. Acts as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers caring for the patients across the care continuum. Functions as a lead resource to other Advanced Practice Providers assigned to area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates a fundamental grounding in nursing theory and practice with mastery of knowledge within a defined content area.
Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings.
Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.
Oversees care coordination in acute, home care, and ambulatory care settings as feasible.
Assists the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals by providing necessary support, education and encouragement.
Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
Provides direct care to patients in acute care, ambulatory care and home care settings.
Performs advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology or designee.
Provides expert consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
Participates in the education, clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers.
Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise.
Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS, and ACLS/PALS.
Prescriptive privileges per licensure.
Functions as lead resource to other Advanced Practice Providers; participates in interview and selection process. Schedules and prioritizes work; evaluates performance and recommends corrective action as appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Master 's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with Board Certification from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as an Acute Care or Adult Nurse Practitioner. Licensed in the State of Rhode Island as a Nurse Practitioner; license must include prescription writing privileges.
Or, graduate of a Physician Assistant Program with B.S. Degree or its equivalent. Certified or certification eligible by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. Certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Supportdvanced Cardiac Life Support. Current registration as Physician 's Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and sensitivity to cultural diversity in each step of the care process.

EXPERIENCE:
One to two years ' related experience including demonstrated leadership abilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None. Provides functional guidance to Advanced Practice Providers assigned to area (up to 5 FTEs).

Pay Range:

$142,355.20-$177,944.00
