Overview
QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Room Physician to provide acute patient care services in the Emergency Department at Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, WA. This position plays a critical role in delivering timely, high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment in support of the military healthcare mission. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to emergent and complex medical situations, along with excellent communication and leadership skills. This role is essential in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for service members and their families.
Duty Location: Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Tacoma, WA 98431. No Telework allowed.
- Duty Hours:
- Fast Track (10 hours): 0700-1700, 0900-1900, 1200-2200, 1400-2400
- Vertical Split Flow Area (9 hours): 1000-1900
- Main Emergency Department (9 hours): 0645-1545, 0700-1600, 1445-2345, 1600-0100, 2245-0745
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries.
- Perform and manage advanced emergency procedures, resuscitation, and life-saving interventions.
- Lead and participate in triage, mass casualty response, and emergency care coordination.
- Interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs) and manage critical care equipment (e.g., ventilators).
- Supervise and train residents, students, and other clinical staff during emergency department shifts.
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation and compliance with medical and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate patient transfers, consultations, and follow-up care as needed.
- Monitor patient flow, respond to pre-hospital communications, and support overall ED operations.
- Maintain continuous availability during shifts and ensure safe handoffs of patient care.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree/Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school (U.S. or Canada) with completed internship and Emergency Medicine residency Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or ABOEM only; ABMS or AOA recognized). The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-year recent experience (within the last 2 years) as an Emergency Medicine Physician.
- Current Certification(s): BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- License: Full, Active, unrestricted medical license (MD or DO) and ability to obtain clinical privileges at the MTF.
- Additional requirements: NPI, Active DEA registration required, No education equivalency substitutions permitted.
- Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
Physical Demands
- HCW's work may require some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable crouching, bending, standing, stooping, stretching, or walking, such as performing regular and recurring medical activities, inspections, or to observe healthcare operations in treatment facilities. Working with patients requires regular and recurring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching, and strenuous physical exertion, such as lifting objects greater than 50 pounds.
Additional Information
- Occupational Health: The contract worker shall be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
- Tuberculosis Screening: The Contractor ensure contract workers shall be screened for tuberculosis (TB). In addition, contract worker will be screened prior to reporting for services at the place of performance for the following: N/A
- Health Requirements. The Contractor shall provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement.
