Overview

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a skilled and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join the rehabilitation team at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, TX. This position plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality rehabilitative care aimed at improving mobility, reducing pain, and restoring functional independence for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.


The Physical Therapy Assistant will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans, including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and the use of specialized modalities such as ultrasound, traction, and heat/cold therapies. The PTA will instruct and motivate patients in the safe use of assistive devices and monitor their progress throughout the course of treatment.


This role requires close collaboration with physical therapy staff and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated, effective patient care. The PTA will also assist in fitting and training patients on orthopedic and prosthetic devices while maintaining accurate documentation of patient responses and outcomes.

    Duty Location: William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Ft. Bliss, TX (Interdisciplinary Pain Management Clinic). No Telework allowed.
  • Duty Hours: Monday - Friday, 0730 - 1630.


Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Core Duties: A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports physical therapists in delivering treatment programs that help patients improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function. Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering prescribed therapeutic treatments such as exercise, gait training, massage, heat/cold therapy, ultrasound, and traction.
  • Instructing patients on the proper use of assistive devices like crutches, braces, prosthetics, and wheelchairs.
  • Monitoring patient performance and progress, and reporting responses to the physical therapist.
  • Assisting patients in improving strength, coordination, and functional mobility.
  • Fitting and training patients in the use and care of orthopedic and supportive devices.
  • Collaborating with physical therapy staff and healthcare team members to adjust and coordinate care plans.
  • Ensuring seamless patient care through coordination with clinic staff and other departments.


Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapy assistant or possess current certification as a physical therapy assistant/technician as determined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
  • Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.



Physical Demands

  • Contract workers must be capable of lifting overhead 20 pounds, bending repetitively, Twist/turn at waist without restriction, no difficulty grasping/pulling.


Additional Information

  • Occupational Health: The contract worker shall be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
  • Tuberculosis Screening: The Contractor ensure contract workers shall be screened for tuberculosis (TB). In addition, contract worker will be screened prior to reporting for services at the place of performance for the following: N/A
  • Health Requirements. The Contractor shall provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement.
