TITLE

HSC Building Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The HSC Building Manager is responsible for the daily management of the Health Science Center including customer service, facility usage and maintenance, supplies and equipment, and supervision of student employees. The HSC Building Manager regularly interacts with the public and supports daily operations such as touring guests and scheduling events. Work is performed with minimal supervision and evaluated based on assignment completion and outcomes, in accordance with University Policies and Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Associate Dean Interprofessional Education & Strategic Initiatives

Supervises: Graduate and Undergraduate Student Assistants

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership, support and strategic direction for areas of responsibility including staff, non-academic programs, and building facilities.

  • Manage HSC budgets for areas of responsibility.

  • Manage scheduling for building tours and events in coordination with academic program leadership.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of risk management strategies, safety and emergency procedures and protocols.

  • Direct the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of student staff to align with student employee policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Implement university policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Form strong networking ties with campus organizations, academic departments, divisional departments and community members to provide services that align with the mission of the health science center, colleges, and the university.

  • Purchase supplies and equipment; manage equipment and facility repairs for building infrastructure in coordination with FMC and academic programs as appropriate and assure equipment orders are delivered and inventoried appropriately.

  • Coordinate and provide event support services for academic components and clinics, including room set up and take down, IT coordination.

  • Manage access requests in relation to academic program leadership.

  • Manage all social media accounts for the Health Science Center.

  • Complete daily opening/closing checklist, assuring student employee compliance.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant management work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of five years of experience managing people and facilities is preferred. Experience in a university setting is preferred. Event and operations management experience.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. This position will work an assigned shift and some evenings and weekends depending upon unit, divisional, and programming needs.

All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:

  • Knowledge of department and emergency action procedures.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

  • Ability to provide guidance within area of responsibility, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.

  • Ability to integrate University resources and policies related to Facilities Management, Risk Management, and Conference Services for the determination of procedures and solutions for the building.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.

  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.

  • Ability to perform CPR and First Aid.

  • Ability to work an assigned shift and some evenings and weekends depending upon unit, divisional, and programming needs.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment including university-related software and email.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described in the Essential Duties and below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job including the ability to lift and move 50 pounds, and move and set up tables, chairs, and materials. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

The employee may be required to travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
