OVERVIEW:

Veeco's Advanced Deposition and Etch portfolio sits at the center of increasingly demanding semiconductor manufacturing requirements, where customers expect faster innovation cycles, higher equipment performance, and predictable factory execution. As Director of Engineering, you will lead the multi-disciplinary organization responsible for translating customer, technology, and business requirements into manufacturable products that meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule commitments. Your decisions will directly influence product roadmaps, development velocity, and customer adoption across Veeco's advanced process equipment portfolio. Working across Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and Software Engineering, you will shape the next generation of deposition and etch platforms while building a high-performing engineering organization capable of scaling with the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead engineering execution across the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition through customer deployment and field performance.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and Software Engineering teams to deliver advanced deposition and etch programs on committed schedule, cost, and quality targets.
  • Drive system architecture and technical decision-making that balance performance, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and risk.
  • Partner with Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Technology, and Customer Support leaders to translate market requirements into successful product roadmaps and customer solutions.
  • Establishoperating metrics, development processes, and resource plans that improve engineering efficiency, predictability, and product quality.
  • Build organizational capability by recruiting, developing, andretainingtop engineering talent while creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Represent engineering with customers, suppliers, and strategic partners to resolve complex technical and business challenges.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline required; Master's degree preferred. 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in complex capital equipment or related industry, including 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles is also required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Demonstratedownership of multiple concurrent product development programs from concept through release.
  • Experience managing budgets, resource allocation, and organizational planning responsibilities.
  • Proven success leading Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and Software Engineering organizations in a product development environment.
  • Deep understanding of complex electro-mechanical systems and system-level engineering tradeoff decisions.
  • Skilled at translating customer requirements into product architectures, execution plans, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience balancing technical performance, schedule, cost, quality, and operational readiness across multiple programs.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and align competing priorities across engineering, operations, commercial, and support functions.
  • Semiconductor equipment experience within deposition, etch, vacuum processing, thin-film technologies, ion beam systems, or related manufacturing platforms.
  • Skilled at communicating technical strategy, program risk, and business impact to executive audiences.



Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $173,000-220,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
