Job Summary

The Manager of Educational Assessment and Analytics leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of organizational assessment to support the College's mission of supporting "Education for a Socially Just World." Working under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and in collaboration with the leadership team of the College, the Manager supports state, national, and professional accreditation program approval processes for licensure programs as well as College-level strategic planning efforts. As part of this work, the Manager provides relevant information to other members of the College leadership. A central part of this work is to provide updated data to program coordinators of educator preparation programs and generate required reports.

Essential Functions

Develops and implements multiple data collection and reporting protocols using multiple large data bases (SPIRE, Flagship Analytics, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Academic Analytics) to inform program and unit improvement.

Building on the University's Flagship Analytics platform and using Tableau, leads the development of College-level dashboards and/or analytics tools related to the effectiveness of educational programs as well as the College's progress in meeting strategic planning objectives.

Serves as a core member of the UMass Amherst Educator Preparation leadership team on assessment matters related to both state program approval and compliance with regulations established by state, federal, and specialized subject matter professional associations.

Generates and interprets reports from various data sources such as DESE databases and UMass Flagship Analytics, to provide educator preparation programs with data to support decision making.

Collects and maintains data and prepares reports related to field placement sites and supervising practitioners, including census data (practicum demographics reports).

Serves as core member of the team preparing for state program approval and national accreditation visits. Maintains accreditation documentation located in common files and websites.

Designs data collection and analysis for required data College leadership team.

Serves as the College's primary point of contact for compliance related reporting and provide data for national and statewide assessment reports (e.g., Title 2, State Annual Report).

Works with the Educator Licensure officer to provide the information required to upload the Candidate Assessment of Performance Report.

Responds to internal and external requests for data (e.g., US News and World Reports, College Factbook, strategic planning data).

Coordinates with University Analytics and Institutional Research (UAIR).

Other Functions

Performs other duties as assigned, showing adaptability and flexibility to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.

Travels and attends meetings as requested.

Completes special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in a field related to educational assessment, evaluation, or research and two (2) years' experience in assessment, evaluation, and research at the PK-12 or post-secondary level OR Bachelor's Degree in a related field and four (4) years' experience in assessment, evaluation, and research at the PK-12 or post-secondary level.

Experience with research and survey design, research methodologies, and statistical analysis.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Problem solving, organizational, planning and project management skills.

Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and representation software.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in field related to educational assessment, evaluation, or research.

Knowledge of practices and methods of program evaluation and assessment with demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the creation, manipulation, and extraction of information from large and small data sources (data mining), and the use of statistical concepts and techniques in the analysis of data and information.

Knowledge of educator preparation accreditation processes and standards. Demonstrated knowledge of assessment tools and software used in educational environments.

Prior experience utilizing Tableau or similar data visualization software.

Experience in learning assessment, institutional research, or program evaluation at the College or University-level.

Proficiency in using or familiarity with TK20 or a similar data management software program.

Experience creating and conducting surveys.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a standard office or indoor university environment and involves minimal physical exertion.

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, 37.5 hours per week.

Required to work occasional nights and weekends.

This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee's work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
