Summary

Provide day to day management of multiple education programs including, undergraduate medical education, graduate education, continuing professional development and rotating/visiting students from technical and health sciences schools. Optimizes resources to ensure unit efficiencies, compliance of accreditation support requirements, business continuity and service excellence. Provide direction and guidance to Education Program Coordinators to ensure adherence to policies, processes, and accreditation requirements. Responsible personnel actions including hiring, training, development and performance management

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage allocation of resources and distribution of work within the unit to ensure business continuity for course coverage, rotation schedules and adequate academic program coverage and compliance of accreditation requirements and standards.

  • Provide guidance and oversight on the coordination of internal and external meetings, site visits, and special events for continuing professional development activities.

  • Maintain liaison with all levels of administration, physicians and outside organizations to coordinate academic programming and to facilitate the resolution of problems.

  • Work collaboratively with peers across units and within the mission to identify, apply best practices and implement standard operating procedures across the practice, unit and/or mission to improve efficiencies.

  • Guide the development of standard operating policies and procedures to ensure consistency across the unit. Implement new policies and keep employees abreast of current changes and standards.

  • Manage personnel activities for the assigned unit and education staff including, but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

  • Develop budget for academic programs optimizing resources ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the compilation of and/or prepare administrative and operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Ensure program data and progress are reported to program stakeholders.

  • May serve as a program coordinator for assigned graduate medical education program(s) and accountable for program coordinator responsibilities.

  • Participate on appropriate committees relevant to the advancement of the program and learners.

  • Provide guidance on the development of program materials including educational materials, marketing materials, websites, forms, and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Required Experience: 7 years

Preferred Education: Master's degree in education or related field

Preferred Experience: Medical education or other graduate level programs.

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
