Key Responsibilities

  • Perform geologic field investigations for CERCLA, RCRA, state-led, and commercial projects, including soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, soil vapor sampling, and site characterization.
  • Support drilling programs, including monitoring well installation and soil boring logging.
  • Execute low-flow groundwater sampling, soil sampling, and conduct vapor intrusion investigations in accordance with project work plans and health and safety plans.
  • Prepare detailed field logs, boring logs, and maintain accurate field documentation and chain-of-custody records.
  • Assist in interpretation of hydrogeologic and environmental data to support conceptual site models, remedy evaluations, and compliance strategies.
  • Contribute to preparation of technical reports, including site investigation reports, baseline sampling event reports, long-term monitoring reports, and regulatory submittals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and scientists to support remediation design, monitoring programs, and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state (e.g., EGLE), and local environmental regulations, as well as company safety procedures.
  • Present field findings and project updates internally and assist with client and regulatory communications as needed.
  • Support operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of remediation systems (e.g., SSDS, SMD, groundwater treatment systems) where applicable.
  • Maintain and calibrate field equipment to ensure proper operation and data quality.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental consulting or related geologic fieldwork.
  • Demonstrated experience with soil sampling, groundwater sampling (including low-flow techniques), drilling oversight, and monitoring well installation.
  • Experience supporting site investigations under CERCLA, RCRA, or state regulatory programs.
  • Progress toward Professional Geologist (PG) or Field Geologist (FG) licensure (preferred).
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current refresher.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain and distances, transporting equipment and materials to and from remote sampling locations, and working outdoors for extended periods in varying environmental conditions while wearing required PPE.
  • Approximately 60-80% fieldwork with regional travel as required.
