HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow who is responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team. Pursuits research along a focused line of inquiry and has a manuscript in development. This position will be in support of Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics (APG) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Science (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD. APG provides foundational medical education in anatomy, histology, physiology, and neuroscience, focusing on "Molecules to Military Medicine".
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
- Project development: Assist in the design, development, and implementation of innovative research projects focused on brain injury/neurorecovery.
- Advanced lab research: Execute specialized laboratory protocols, specifically those involving hypoxia and brain injury-based paradigms and in vivo rodent models.
- Innovation & feasibility: Investigate the application of scientific principles and theories to develop new methodologies, potential inventions, or translational research products.
Data Management: Maintain meticulous records of all experiments, including precise sample collection, handling, and documentation of experimental variables. - Data interpretation: Analyze complex datasets-ranging from microscopy images to transcriptomic profiles-to draw meaningful scientific conclusions.
- Scholarly output: Prepare high-quality data visualizations and drafts for peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national or international scientific meetings.
Collaborative support: Work closely with the PI and laboratory team and collaborators to meet project milestones and contribute to the intellectual environment of the lab. - Laboratory stewardship: Perform additional duties as assigned, including mentoring junior lab members or participating in specialized training essential to the role.
