Position Summary

NETSCOUT is looking for a motivated and energetic individual to join our Sales Engineering team. In this role, the Sales Engineer (SE) will be responsible for providing pre-sales engineering support for the US service provider sales team on our DDoS solutions. You will be responsible for the technical sales win in the sales cycle by combining the technical expertise mixed with sound sales skills and articulating unique NETSCOUT value to our ISP customers.

By having a strong background in selling solutions and solid understanding of all phases of the sales cycle, you will support the sales team as a technical consultant. You will engage early in a deal to help set sales strategy, understand how to lead discovery, craft a solution to solve a customer's business need, and get deep in validating solutions with key service provider stakeholder groups. This requires an in-depth understanding of a customer's technical infrastructure and network.

What you need for this position:



  • BA/BS in Computer Science/Network Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Technical experience in networking, ISP and/or Security Industry, as a Sales Engineer with experience leading projects and working with customers.
  • Technical experience with and understanding of TCP/IP, Routing/Switching Topologies and Networking Protocols, including BGP, FlowSpec, VPN, Ethernet, VLANs, HTTP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, RADIUS, TACACS, VoIP, Netflow, GRE and MPLS is required.
  • Technical and working knowledge of DDoS attacks, attack mitigations techniques, Netflow and DDoS detection as well as network and OTT visibility using flow and DNS data.
  • Understanding of ISP (Tier1/Tier2) networks is extremely desirable.
  • Technical experience with a security background and knowledge of Firewall, IDS, IPS, DDoS, network exploits, internet malware and packet analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in customer engineering, network engineering for a data network vendor, service provider or network security is preferred.
  • Experience selling and working in network management (Splunk, ArcSight and QRadar) is preferred.
  • Must be able to create and deliver field trials, manage competitive bakeoffs, run onsite presentations, perform product demonstrations, lead whiteboard discussions, etc., to best present Netscout's solutions in the best possible light in order to close deals to commercial customers.
  • Ability to travel within Canada/U.S.

  • Delivering persuasive customer value proposition presentation and demonstrations.
  • Managing and delivering technology workshops.
  • Building BOM's / Project plans for customer requirements.
  • Owning and responding to RFP/RFQ/RFI's.
  • Executive business case presentations.
  • Conference/Seminar/webinar presentations.
  • Understanding/Defining customer use cases (business and technical)
  • Feature request definition, promotion and management.
  • Building and delivering training for customers.
  • Managing the delivery of a customer project.
  • Negotiating and setting customer expectations.
  • Organizing internal and external resources to ensure on-time, smooth and high-quality delivery.
