Department Summary

The Elm Fork Education Center offers 5 weeks of summer science day camps in June and July. The camps are designed for kids 7 to 13 years old. There are 25 camp sessions, 5 per week. Camp begins on June 8, 2026 and ends on July 17, 2026.

Position Overview

We have 3 position available at this time.
One for our morning shift, 7am to 1 pm and two for our afternoon camp, 12 noon to 6 pm.
Candidates for the morning position would be responsible for team teaching up to 5 different camp sessions (one per week).
Candidates for the afternoon camp would join a team of 4 counselors responsible for Discovery Camp. Discovery camp includes recreational activities and field trips with the campers.

Minimum Qualifications

18 years of age. Completed high school. Some experience working with kids at a camp or school.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to pass a background check to work with minors and complete all the necessary training for working with minors at UNT
Experience working with elementary and middle school students in a learning environment.
Ability to work outdoors in the summer.
Abiltiy to work with staff and volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with camps, specifically science day camps.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties



  • Supervise 8 to 10 campers ages 7 to 13 in multiple settings.
  • Responsible for team teaching up to 5 different camp sessions (one per week).
  • Work outdoors in the summer.
  • Responsible for Discovery Camp, includes recreational activities and field trips with the campers.


Physical Requirements

Communicating with others to exchange information.
Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

Environmental Hazards

Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Noisy environments.
