OSP HDD Locator - Telecommunications Location: Ankeny, IA Type: Full-Time \| 100% Onsite Travel: Up to 75% regional travel (overnight required) TEKsystems is hiring an experienced OSP Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Locator to support underground fiber and utility construction projects based out of Ankeny, IA. This is a hands-on role working with an HDD crew on telecom infrastructure projects across Iowa and surrounding states. Responsibilities * Locate underground utilities to support HDD operations * Guide HDD drilling paths and work closely with the drill operator * Support underground construction including HDD, conduit installation, fiber/coax placement, trenching, and restoration * Perform test pitting and verify utility placements * Assist with drill setup, drilling mud mixing, and daily equipment inspections * Remain hands-on across all crew activities to support productivity and safety Qualifications * Experience as an HDD Locator or underground utility locator * OSP telecom construction experience preferred (fiber, coax, conduit) * Familiarity with Vermeer HDD equipment preferred * Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions * Team-oriented with strong work ethic * Valid driver's license Travel & Schedule * Up to 75% travel required, primarily regional * Overnight travel expected (hotel provided + per day per diem) * Typical schedule: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (varies by project) Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ankeny, IA.
