Men's Locker Room Attendant

Position Summary:

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming men's locker room environment for members and guests. Supports the YMCA's commitment to providing a positive member experience by ensuring facility standards are upheld, responding to member needs, and helping create a respectful, safe and inclusive atmosphere in all men's locker room spaces.

Essential Functions:


  • Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the locker room, restrooms, showers, and adjacent areas through regular monitoring and light cleaning.
  • Ensure locker room spaces meet YMCA standards for safety, cleanliness, and overall member experience.
  • Provide a visible and approachable presence to support a welcoming and respectful environment.
  • Address minor facility or cleanliness concerns in real time and report larger issues to leadership as needed.
  • Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are upheld consistently and respectfully to promote appropriate use of locker room spaces.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member questions or concerns.
  • Monitor supply levels (paper products, soap, etc.) and restock as needed.
  • Communicate any maintenance, safety, or member experience concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with opening, closing, and daily operational procedures as assigned.
  • Attends mandatory staff training and meeting.

Qualifications:

1. At least 21 years of age.

2. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.

3. Previous experience in customer service or facility support preferred.

4. Ability to communicate effectively with members, staff and guests.

5. Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion in a member focused environment.

6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

COMPUTER LITERACY

Skills are essential in all the Microsoft Office applications including Word, and Excel. Ability to use these programs to lighten workload, develop reports and to automate procedures is very necessary. Ability to diagnose basic PC problems and to communicate those problems is very important.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work is primarily located in the men's locker room and surrounding areas with exposure to humid and wet conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and/or blood. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

HOURS

Flexible scheduling and availability to work operational hours of the YMCA and sites, which may include days, evenings, and weekends.
