We are currently searching for an entry level Drainage Engineer in Training (E.I.) to support our Southeast Region located in any of our Florida Volkert office locations.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering.
What you'll be doing:
- Assists with various assignments for the Department of Transportation and local municipalities
- Performs engineering deliverables associated with Drainage and roadway infrastructure improvements
- Assists and prepares project plans using the latest CADD software including but not limited to MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and/or AutoCADD, among others
- Contributes to the preparation and/or modification of engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects
- Works with senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation and drainage related projects
- Performs the design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirements
- Prepares and assists in the preparation of project construction quantities, details, cost estimates and the preparation of project specifications
- Reviews project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirements
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of project schedules
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines, piers, and other professionals to successfully deliver quality projects within budget and schedule
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering
- EIT (E.I) Certification is desired (or the commitment to acquire it within 1-year)
- A minimum of 0 - 4 years of engineering experience
- Experience with (or strong willingness to learn) MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software (among other software)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
- Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
Bonus points if you have:
- Previous FDOT/Municipal experience is a plus
- Prior knowledge of FDOT standards is plus
