    REPORTS TO: Associate Principal for Operations

    POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Cadre Substitute covers for classes when teachers are absent. This position implements instruction to assist students in understanding a subject matter as well as to provide instruction in functional behaviors needed for academic and socio-emotional progress. Priority is given to General Education classrooms.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with required endorsements.
    2. BA Degree or higher
    3. Experience working successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment is preferred.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and curriculum standards.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction for individuals and groups.

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, administrators, student services staff, and families.
    • Ability to evaluate student achievement and use data to guide instruction.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Implements lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher to ensure continuity of the curricular program.
    • Adapts delivery of curriculum to engage diverse learners and meet student performance standards.
    • Maintains a respectful and safe classroom environment conducive to learning for all students.
    • Interacts with students in ways that foster respectful, positive relationships.
    • Promotes the development of student self-esteem, independence, and responsibility.
    • Utilizes student assessment and evaluation data to support school improvement initiatives as directed.
    • Maintains accurate student records, including attendance and progress reports, following legal state and federal guidelines (FERPA).
    • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with staff.
    • Works cooperatively with school personnel*including Directors, Student Services staff, and Principals *to support student success.
    • Encourages positive school-community relationships.
    • Participates in District orientation, institute days, and professional development as required.
    • Acts as a positive representative of District 219 when interacting with the public, staff, and students.
    • Responds to staff and student inquiries about classroom matters not clearly covered by existing procedures with professionalism.
    • Maintains knowledge of current trends and best practices through professional activities such as coursework, conferences, and relevant literature.
    • Adheres to the Board of Education and building policies and procedures.
    • Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:182 day working calendar, one year position

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a typical school environment. Duties may require standing, walking, lifting instructional materials, and supporting students as needed.

    SALARY RANGE: Starting at $45,000
