The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Provides evaluative and inpatient mental health services to the patients/family of the inpatient unit. Maintains close contacts with community providers serving the patients. Prepares and maintains records and reports regarding patient treatment and progress as required by regulatory standards and organizational policy. Participates as an integral part of the Milieu to provide a safe and secure treatment environment. Participates in the unit PI/QA programs and hospital quality improvement efforts. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work.
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
  • Prior Experience in Medical Social Work required.
  • Oncology Experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with team members to facilitate consistent and coordinated patient care.
  • Establish and facilitate patient and family support groups.
  • Maintains professional affiliation and license. Participates in continuing education for professional development.
  • Participates in policy writing.
  • Provides direct counseling and emotional support.
  • Provides psychosocial assessments of brain tumor patients and their families.
  • Provides staff and public education as appropriate.
  • Serves as patient advocate.
