Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Edit/Media Specialist (Senior Digital Content Specialist) for Rutgers University Libraries. This position reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing and plays a key role in creating and managing web and social media content for Rutgers University Libraries.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Supports department operations, project management, assessment, and campaign oversight.
- Develops, edits, organizes, and maintains content for libraries.rutgers.edu, the Libraries staff site, and other assigned digital platforms.
- Ensures all content aligns with the Libraries' marketing and communications plan, follows best practices, and is user-friendly, cohesive, and accessible.
- Tests webpages for functionality, information architecture, and usability.
- Collaborates with the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Vice President for University Libraries, and technical teams to establish and analyze website metrics.
- Creates and manages content for system-wide social media channels.
- Oversees social media content scheduling and monitoring, fostering coordinated efforts across the Libraries and university, and exploring innovative content formats and strategies aligned with emerging trends.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of website and social media content creation.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
- Creative and strategic mindset and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Experience producing website content using an open-source CMS platform (such as Drupal or WordPress) and creating content for major social media channels (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) is essential.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement both short-term and long-term website updates.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Solid understanding of best practices in information architecture, web standards, and user experience to ensure effective user engagement.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to a non-technical audience is critical.
- Ability to learn new technologies as needed.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Strong video and photo editing skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience in videography and/or photography and familiarity with a variety of camera equipment.
- Experience developing interfaces using standard web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in using website and social media analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Hotjar, and Sprout Social.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute strategies for tracking and deriving metrics for reporting purposes.
- Knowledge of Title II ADA compliance requirements, including experience scanning, triaging, and remediating site issues.
- Familiarity with best practices, relevant tools (e.g., remediation software, screen readers, transcription software), and experience developing accessible site features.
