Description The Department of Psychiatry is seeking to hire a full-time Financial Analyst to support the Outpatient Compassionate Response (CORE) Services team. You will focus on financial operations, billing support, cash reconciliation, and routine reporting. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Prepare routine and monthly collection, deposit, and variance reports
  • Maintain accurate deposit records and assist with resolving payment discrepancies
  • Monitor billing and authorizations work-queues
  • Reconcile daily deposits, identify overages/shortages, and follow established procedures
  • Assist with account resolution, refunds, stop payments, and documentation tracking
  • Support patient registration and encounter workflows, including insurance and demographic data entry
  • Serve as liaison with internal departments to gather information and support reporting needs
  • Organize financial records and ensure compliance with departmental and university guidelines
  • Provide administrative support and assistance to clinical and billing staff as needed
Salary range: $30.36/hr - $43.49/hr
Qualifications Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Exceland basic PC applications
Experience with or exposure to EPIC/Care Connector similar healthcare revenue cycle systems (preferred)
Minimum 3 years of recent experiencein insurance authorizations, billing, financial clearance, or related healthcare revenue functions
Experience preparing routine analytical, financial, or operational reports
Knowledge of basic psychiatric terminologysufficient to support registration, billing, and departmental communication
Knowledge of MediCal, HMO, PPO, and thirdparty payerauthorization and eligibility requirements
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations, including additions, subtractions, ratios, rates, and percentages related to deposits and charges
Ability to perform patient encounters, registration, and appointment schedulingusing a computerized system
Typing skills sufficient to enter data accurately and efficiently
Reading comprehension sufficient to understand departmental policies, procedures, and training materials
Working knowledge of patientrelated policies and procedureswithin a healthcare or university setting preferred
Familiarity with cash handling, deposit reconciliation, and audit documentationpreferred
