MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING INTERN - (BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will focus on capturing and creating standardized video-based operation sheets by filming critical processes being performed by production operators and translating their work into clear, visual instructions.
The qualified candidate will become part of the Kearfott Manufacturing Engineering team. Work will be performed in a dynamic environment directly with experienced engineers and operators. This is an opportunity to enhance skills, be exposed to various Kearfott products and develop a deeper understanding of our wide array of manufacturing processes.
Manufacturing Engineering Interns will:
* Film production operators performing specific work on the manufacturing floor
* Edit and compile videos into clear, concise operation sheets and training materials
* Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and operators to ensure accuracy of documented processes
* Analyze workflows to identify opportunities for clarity, efficiency, and standardization
* Organize and maintain a library of video documentation for production processes
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts
* Ensure all documentation aligns with safety and quality standards
Required Skills:
* Creative problem-solving capability
* Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
* Video filming and editing
* GPA greater than 3.2 preferred
* Experience in Microsoft Office and Solidworks CAD software
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
* General knowledge and understanding of mathematical modeling and analysis methods
Education:
* Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical/Computer/Mechatronics Engineering or other similar engineering/scientific majors
* Knowledgeable in some of the following areas: CAD, lean manufacturing, mechanical assembly, test equipment, software programming, analog / digital design, guidance & control, systems analysis, or systems integration
* Have coursework, interest, motivation and experience that provide the foundation to develop expertise in one or more of the above engineering specialties
* Completed at least sophomore year of college/university
* Must be a US Citizen.
Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2026. Internship Program expected to run from May 19, 2026 - July 31, 2026.
