Job Description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Traction, serves as the senior financial leader for the Traction business segment, responsible for directing and overseeing all financial activities in support of profitable growth, operational performance, and short to midterm (1-3 year) strategy execution. This role partners closely with the Traction President and leadership team to shape business strategy, guide investments, and deliver financial results in alignment with the Motion Platform and overarching Motion & Energy (MOEN) objectives.

The CFO is accountable for financial planning and analysis, accounting and control, reporting, governance, and risk management across the Traction segment's global operations. Operating within a matrixed and federated finance structure, this role ensures strong financial discipline, transparency, and compliance while serving as the primary financial liaison between the Traction segment and Platform and MOEN finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Segment Financial Leadership & Business Partnership:
  • Collaborate with the Traction President and leadership team to shape and drive business strategy, investments, and profitable growth.
  • Provide financial insights, analysis, and decision support to ensure delivery of financial targets.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to segment leadership on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management:
  • Lead annual budgeting, strategic planning, and monthly/quarterly forecasting processes.
  • Monitor financial performance against targets; proactively identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Drive margin enhancement, cost optimization, and operational performance initiatives.
Accounting, Reporting & Consolidation:
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee global consolidation of financial results for the Traction business segment.
  • Maintain strong balance sheet discipline, trend analysis, and financial transparency.
Working Capital, Cash Flow & Capital Management:
  • Lead effective cash flow forecasting through management of working capital, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to optimize asset utilization and capital expenditures. Execute strategies to meet cash flow, inventory, and investment targets.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Ensure compliance with internal control standards, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain robust governance and risk management practices across global sites. Identify financial and operational risks and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
Finance Organization Leadership:
  • Lead and develop a highperforming global finance organization spanning FP&A, accounting, and controlling functions.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and financial discipline.
  • Develop finance talent and succession plans to ensure longterm organizational capability.
Stakeholder & Matrix Collaboration:
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between the Traction business segment and Motion Platform / MOEN finance leadership.
  • Effectively communicate financial results, trends, and strategic insights to segment, platform, and enterprise stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, HR, IT, and other functional leaders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, or engineeringdriven businesses.
  • Proven experience managing full P&L responsibility in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Strong experience reviewing balance sheets, identifying trends, risks, and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Demonstrated success in cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and inventory management.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial planning tools.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence crossfunctional and executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple cultures.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% as required to support global operations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain regular onsite presence at the Hoffman Estates, IL office location, typically 3 days per week.
