Job Summary: This role leads the engineering delivery of the organization's member facing digital software portfolio, including online and mobile banking, digital account origination, loan applications, payments, and related digital channel integrations. This role is accountable for translating enterprise and experience strategy into scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions delivered through disciplined engineering practices. This role serves as the primary engineering partner to experience product leadership, shaping what is built and how it is delivered while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and operational standards. The position establishes direction for digital software engineering across platforms and channels, balancing innovation, speed, quality, and long-term sustainability. Success requires strong judgment, influence, and the ability to guide investment decisions toward work that delivers meaningful member and business outcomes. - Set and execute the engineering strategy for all member facing digital software products, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology standards, platform strategy, and long term architectural direction.
- Lead multiple software engineering teams through Directors and Senior Managers, establishing clear expectations for delivery discipline, engineering quality, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Act as the executive engineering partner to product and experience leaders, shaping roadmaps and priorities to align with delivery capacity, architectural constraints, and platform capabilities.
- Ensure modern software development practices are consistently applied across teams, including Agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, secure coding standards, and production readiness practices.
- Drive reduction of unnecessary customization by promoting reuse, shared services, and standard platform capabilities to improve speed, maintainability, and total cost of ownership.
- Partner with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, integration, and platform engineering leaders to ensure digital solutions are built on resilient backend services, clean APIs, and scalable integration patterns.
- Ensure digital software solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, accessibility, compliance, performance, and resiliency, coordinating with cybersecurity and IT assurance leaders as needed.
- Oversee vendor supported software delivery for digital channels, ensuring external partners align with internal engineering standards, delivery expectations, and roadmap priorities.
- Provide executive level visibility into engineering health, delivery risks, dependencies, and performance, translating technical realities into clear guidance for senior leadership decision making.
- Build and sustain a high performing engineering organization by developing leadership capability, strengthening technical depth, and establishing clear career paths across software development roles.

What You'll Need
|
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Extensive senior leadership experience overseeing software development organizations responsible for large scale, customer facing digital platforms in complex, regulated environments
- Deep understanding of modern software engineering and delivery practices, including front end and mobile development, API driven architectures, distributed systems, and cloud native solutions.
- Proven ability to operate at an enterprise level, balancing business priorities, engineering constraints, platform strategy, and long term architectural sustainability.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and scaling Agile, DevOps, and SRE practices across multiple teams to achieve predictable, high quality delivery outcomes.
- Credibility engaging in architecture and design discussions while delegating detailed solution ownership to engineering leaders.
- Strong executive communication and influence skills, with the ability to frame technical tradeoffs in business relevant terms and guide cross functional decision making.
- Experience managing third party software vendors and integrating vendor delivery models into internal engineering governance.
- Collaborative, principled leadership style with a track record of leading through influence rather than direct authority alone.
