General Summary of Position

Support core accounting operations and help drive accuracy, efficiency, and insight across the business. This hands-on role plays a key part in the month-end close, financial reporting, and general accounting activities within a manufacturing environment.

In addition to core responsibilities, this role supports the Director of Accounting by providing day-to-day guidance to the AP/AR accounting associate, helping ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently. The Senior Accountant will also perform ad-hoc analyses to support decision-making across the organization.

This is a high-visibility role with regular interaction across departments, offering the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to both financial reporting and operational improvements.

Essential Functions



  • Lead and actively participate in the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, COGS, and fixed assets
  • Support costing functions, including:

    • Rate updates
    • Inventory valuation
    • Variance analysis (labor, material, overhead)


  • Partner with operations to understand production activity and identify cost drivers and cost-saving opportunities
  • Perform inventory accounting and maintain controls, including coordination and support of physical inventory counts
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Support corporate reporting requirements and provide requested documentation
  • Assist with external audit and tax preparation requests
  • Support credit review processes for new customers and verification of vendor documentation
  • Participate in yearend financial review with corporate leadership
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance



  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (manufacturing experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of production accounting and inventory processes
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP
