NOTE:

1: This position is hybrid (3 days onsite) in our FIS Office locations in Atlanta (GA), Jacksonville (FL), Milwaukee (WI).

About the team:

The Event Broker team builds and supports enterprise Kafka infrastructure, enabling real-time event delivery across debit, credit, and core banking platforms. We provide a scalable, secure messaging backbone used across the organization.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, build, and support event-driven systems for critical banking platforms.

  • Develop and operate Kafka-based event pipelines at enterprise scale.

  • Defining data and automation strategy.

  • Build backend services and integrations using Python.

  • Proficient in databases like Snowflake, Oracle, and MongoDB

  • Participate in system design, architecture reviews, and production support.

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and client-facing teams.

  • Write technical specs, documentation, and operational runbooks.

  • Support systems in Unix/Linux environments.

What you will need:

  • 10+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.

  • Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.

  • Proficiency in Python, and Unix/Linux.

  • Experience with Snowflake, Oracle, and/or MongoDB.

  • Strong SQL and database design skills.

  • Experience building RESTful or event-based services.

  • Familiarity with automation processes and tools (e.g., JUnit).

  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Enterprise Kafka / Confluent experience.

  • Banking or payments domain experience.

  • Agile development experience.
