The Opportunity:
Mattel is seeking a Director, People & Culture Business Partner to serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders within the Global Brand organization. This role is critical in translating enterprise and brand strategies into integrated people and culture priorities that strengthen organizational capability, accelerate leadership effectiveness, and enable long-term business growth.
Operating with a strong enterprise mindset, you will balance the needs of the Global Brand organization with broader Mattel priorities to drive consistency, scalability, and impact across the business. You will play a key role in shaping a high-performance, inclusive culture while building the organizational capability required to win in a fast-moving, consumer-facing global environment.
Based in El Segundo, California, and reporting to the SVP, People Business Partner, this role is designed as a key rotational leadership opportunity, offering exposure to enterprise-level strategy, senior leadership, and broad People & Culture practices across Mattel's global ecosystem.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping and influencing business strategy through an integrated People & Culture lens.
- Define and drive a forward-looking People & Culture strategy aligned to Global Brand and enterprise-wide priorities.
- Lead enterprise-level talent strategies, including succession planning, leadership development, and workforce planning to build a strong and diverse leadership pipeline.
- Build organizational capability by diagnosing gaps and implementing solutions across leadership effectiveness, team performance, and operating models.
- Lead complex organizational design and transformation initiatives that enable business evolution, innovation, and growth.
- Coach senior leaders to operate with an enterprise mindset, strengthening decision-making, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Anticipate and address organizational and talent risks through data-driven insights and proactive planning.
- Influence and align senior stakeholders across functions and geographies to resolve complex challenges and drive strategic initiatives.
- Partner with Centers of Excellence to design and deliver best-in-class solutions across performance management, compensation, employee relations, and leadership development.
- Champion a high-performance, inclusive culture that reflects Mattel's values and drives engagement, creativity, and accountability at scale.
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant experience as a strategic HR/People Business Partner.
- Proven track record of advising and influencing senior executives in a global, matrixed, consumer-facing or brand-driven organization.
- Deep expertise in organizational design, organizational effectiveness, and leading large-scale transformation and change initiatives.
- Demonstrated success building enterprise talent strategies across succession planning, workforce planning, leadership development, and performance management.
- Strong track record of building organizational capability and shaping culture in complex, global environments.
- Exceptional executive coaching and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge and guide senior leaders effectively.
- Strong business acumen and analytical capability; able to leverage data and insights to inform strategy and drive measurable outcomes.
- Sound judgment and experience navigating complex employee relations and organizational dynamics.
- Ability to operate with agility in ambiguous environments and lead initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Global mindset with a passion for fostering inclusive, high-performing teams.
