The Security Operations Supervisor oversees and supervises the daily operations of the Security Division. This role provides oversight of shift supervisors and Behavioral Specialists. This role involves interaction and coordination with clinical leadership in all areas that Behavioral Specialist are assigned.

The Security Operations Supervisor oversees scheduling for Security Supervisors and Behavioral Specialists. This role tracks data related to daily reports for Environment of Care, operations and key performance indicators for the Division. This role immediately addresses, mitigates and resolves any ongoing risks that impact patient/staff safety.

The Security Division oversees and provides security services to the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, its hospitals and outpatient clinics by courteously assisting staff, visitors and patients while enforcing rules and regulations in promoting a safe healthcare environment for an assigned shift.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record that reflects safe and lawful motor vehicle operation

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of five (5) years of security, management or law enforcement work experience.

Experience PREFERRED:
Seven (7) years of security, public safety or law enforcement work experience
Two (2) years of crime prevention, community services, and/or instructor work experience and experience developing and managing crime prevention and community functions
Previous supervisory work experience

Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma orequivalent

Education/training PREFERRED:
Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related field or completion of a Police Academy Program

Independent action(s) required:
Oversees and directs the daily operations of assigned security shift.
De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team.
Prevents potentially risky and/or violent situations.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Supervises the entire operation of the security staff on one of the shifts.

Additional position requirements:
Ability to work any shifts and additional hours as needed and scheduled.
Ability to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.
