The Smilow Cancer Hospital (SCH) Network Clinical Program Manager is responsible for oversight and supervision of clinical operations and practices in all network outpatient practices and hospital sites, ensuring achievement of the YNHH strategic objectives and mission in the field patient service, teaching, research, and community service. In addition, this position is responsible for bridging among SCH, program affiliates and regional satellite sites to ensure alignment across the network. Reporting to the SCH Clinical Program Director and the Executive Director of the Smilow Network and working in partnership with the Network Medical Director, he/she ensures compliance with provider-based regulations, exceptional oncology standards of practice, and efficient and cost -effective operations, promotes a culture of safe and exemplary patient and family -centered care, and facilitates the conduct of community based-clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • 1. ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP
    • 1.1 Serves as a visible leader to network staff and physicians; holds self and others accountable for
      demonstrating YNHH core values.
  • 2. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
    • 2.1 Assists SCH and Network leadership in designing, developing, and implementing clinically and fiscally
      responsive network program goals, objectives, priorities, standards and practices based on national
      benchmarks, outcomes of SCH continuous quality improvement initiatives, physician and staff
      feedback and other relevant resources.
  • 3. OPERATIONS AND SERVICE EXCELLENCE
    • 3.1 Ensure that desired clinical services are rendered through timely, coordinated, multidisciplinary,
      cost effective and efficient processes.
  • 4. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
    • 4.1 Provides vision and leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction,
      recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • 5. FISCAL MANAGEMENT AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
    • 5.1 Participates in development of and manages the network operating budget in a manner that ensures
      delivery of cost-effective, high quality care at clinical care sites through-out the Smilow Network.
  • 6. OUTCOMES
    • 6.1 Partners with Network Medical Director and other leadership staff to develop/implement systems for
      monitoring network site performance and ensuring adherence to established SCH standards of care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required and/or a Masters Degree in Nursing.
- Masters Degree Preferred
- Masters Degree Required as of 1/1/2021. The degree does not have to be in Nursing depending on whether the Bachelors Degree is a BSN. One of the two degrees (Bachelors or Masters) MUST BE IN NURSING.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years experience in oncology, either in a Cancer Center setting or an oncology practice. Significant operational and management skills required. Working knowledge of and experience with regulatory and TJC standards and requirements.

LICENSURE

Current Connecticut State RN Nursing licensure required
All eligible, nurse leaders must have one of the following nursing leadership certifications by December 31, 2028 and then be maintained.
o ANCC Basic (NE) Nurse Executive, or
o AONE (CNML) Certified Nurse Manager Leader

SPECIAL SKILLS

Strong management and financial management expertise with savvy business skills, along with exceptional clinical management knowledge. Ability to collaborate with oncology professionals and support staff and the ability to build a collaborative practice environment. Flexibility and the ability to multi-task required.
Travel between network sites required.
