Job Summary: |
The Adult & Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) has an opening for a full-time Grants & Contracts Manager. The Grants & Contracts Manager leads the ACCORDS grants team, which provides comprehensive pre- and post-award support to ACCORDS Principal Investigators (PIs). This role works closely with ACCORDS leadership, the Office of Grants and Contracts, and research teams to ensure the effective administration and oversight of sponsored projects across the center. The Grants & Contracts Manager is responsible for supervising a team of grant administrators while also managing a portfolio of grants. Under direction from ACCORDS leadership, this position provides day-to-day leadership, facilitates communication related to sponsored project administration, and ensures compliance with all federal, state, University, and sponsor regulations. The role also emphasizes delivering high-quality service and support to ACCORDS investigators, project managers, analysts, and staff, while contributing to efficient and consistent grants management processes in a collaborative academic environment. Key Responsibilities: Supervision/Leadership (35%)
Supervise a team of six research services professionals (grant administrators) and serve as the primary contact for the Grants and Contracts Unit at ACCORDS for all PIs and research staff. Create policy and processes for the Grants and Contracts Team in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA). Communicate procedures and policies effectively across ACCORDS. Assign workloads to team members, and/or delegate responsibility for workload assignment, ensuring that team members have appropriate workloads. Assess overall workload and capacity and make recommendations to DFA for any additional positions/FTE needed to support the team. Meet regularly with all team members to assess workloads, stay up to date on current grants and ensure that team members have the necessary training and knowledge to perform their roles successfully. Develop and maintain systems for research administrative records management and retention, including oversight of off-campus records in long-term storage. Closely collaborate with other ACCORDS administrative team members to maintain the overall integrity of ACCORDS research administration. In collaboration with the DFA and/or ACCORDS Management Team, lead process improvement and organizational development initiatives related to research administration. Other duties as required.
Pre and Post Award Administration (50%)
Manage all pre- and post-award activity for the ACCORDS Grants unit including delegation of responsibilities and adherence to university and sponsor policies and timelines. Management of a robust grant portfolio - providing both pre and post award support Administer pertinent university fiscal policies and procedures, and state, federal, OMB Circular A21, and sponsor policies and standards applicable to business management of projects and the unit (personnel, accounting, auditing, etc.). Prepare budgets for federal, state, industry, university and private sponsors for grants, fellowships and contracts. Assemble, track and route proposal documents through the Office of Grants and Contracts. Maintain a grant budget oversight system that includes both summary and detailed accounting of activities across all funding sources that allows for accurate projections of expenditures. Manage and/or provide oversight for all project financial accounts: process and track financial transactions; review statements monthly to monitor expenses; review expenditures compared with budget; provide interpretation and analysis of financial statements to principal investigators; reconcile accounts, and ensure accurate and appropriate financial reporting to sponsors. Ensure all post-award administrators meet regularly with PIs/Project Managers with active projects in their portfolio. Ensure all grant and contract team members stay up-to-date with the latest grant regulations with specific focus on NIH and PCORI.
Financial Administration/Training/Reporting (15%)
Assess and request/recommend support for training needs for the grants team members through the ACCORDS professional development funding process annually. Responsible for training and oversight for the team, including assisting in training project managers and research staff on financial and compliance issues for grants such as gift card program administration. Work in conjunction with the DFA and Finance team members to coordinate needs, processes, procedures and assist in developing policies specifically as they affect sponsored research. In conjunction with the DFA, develop and standardize use of campus reporting tools to provide more streamlined and efficient post-award grant reporting to PIs/Program Managers.

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution 5 years' experience coordinating and managing sponsored projects administration, which must include both pre and post award administration. 2 years' experience supervising professional employees.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working in sponsored projects administration at CU Anschutz. Experience with fiscal policies and procedures pertaining to grants and contracts and finance. Experience with CU Anschutz information systems: InfoEd, CONCUR, CU Marketplace, PeopleSoft Finance, CU Data, and HCM. Related experience working in an academic research environment. Previous experience managing a research team within an academic health center experience. 4 or more years' experience managing professional employees Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or closely related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of federal, private and industry grant and contract regulations and rules. Strong financial management skills as relevant to grant and contract management requirements and ability to work with different fiscal years and assist PIs in managing across multiple funding sources. Knowledge and appreciation of GAAP. Ability to plan, organize, implement and coordinate complex financial and administrative activities. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with medical, professional, administrative and other personnel, to effectively present information both orally and in written form. Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple deadlines. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and documents and maintain strict confidentiality in all HR matters; using professionalism and discretion in all conversations even those not directly related to HR actions. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and advanced proficiency creating and maintaining data/financial reports using Excel.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $73,765-$98,845 annually The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
