United States, New York, Brooklyn

New Position: This position is open due to an existing vacancy to support our evolving business needs.

Summary:

CoCounsel for Tax & Accounting is the market-leading AI assistant for CPA firms - automating complex tax workflows and freeing accountants to do the strategic work that actually matters. We were born from a startup acquisition and still operate like one: small team, high ownership, fast cycles - but with Thomson Reuters' content library, integrations, and distribution behind us. This is a rare combination, and we're building at a pace that matches it.

About the Role:

We need a Senior PM to own the core product experience - the foundational layer that every CoCounsel user touches. Think: the conversation UX, workspaces, notifications, knowledge base, client and project structures, research experiences (citations, charts, primary law, validation), and the connective tissue that unifies our product across surfaces. This is not a feature factory role. You'll be the person who makes CoCounsel feel like one coherent, well-crafted product rather than a collection of capabilities.

This role exists because we're at an inflection point. The product works. Customers are using it. Now the question is how to make it feel inevitable - the thing accountants can't imagine working without. That requires someone with sharp UX instincts, comfort in ambiguity, and the judgment to make the right tradeoffs between speed and craft. You'll work directly with engineering, design, and our AI team, and you'll regularly be in front of customers and GTM partners, shaping how CoCounsel shows up in the market.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the end-to-end strategy and roadmap for CoCounsel's core user experience - the shared surfaces and interaction patterns that define how the product feels

  • Define and ship features across workspaces, knowledge base, conversation UX, and cross-product research experiences like citations, validation, and exports

  • Drive the vision for a unified CoCounsel experience across product lines, making architectural and UX decisions that compound over time

  • Be the product voice in customer demos, sales conversations, and support escalations - translating user pain into product direction with speed and clarity

  • Build shared context with GTM, CS, and engineering so that priorities are legible and tradeoffs are understood, not just communicated

  • Champion accessibility and quality as first-class product concerns, not afterthoughts

About You:

  • You've shipped core platform or product infrastructure at a B2B SaaS company where design quality and engineering culture were taken seriously - 5+ years in product management

  • You have strong UX product sense. You notice when something feels off, and you can articulate why and what to do about it

  • You're genuinely fluent in AI - not just monitoring the space but using LLMs, coding tools, and agents in your daily work, with informed opinions on where generative AI is headed

  • You're data-literate and default to evidence, but you don't hide behind dashboards when a decision needs conviction

  • You've operated in environments where scope is ambiguous, ownership overlaps exist, and the right answer is often "it depends" - and you thrived

  • You can hold your own in a customer demo, a design review, and a technical architecture discussion in the same afternoon

  • You're a systems thinker who sees how a notification model, a project taxonomy, and a citation format all connect to the same underlying product thesis

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in tax, accounting, or professional services software, or any domain where you've developed deep empathy for expert users in complex workflows

  • You've built or contributed to a design system or shared component library from the product side, and/or have experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) as a product discipline.
