About The University of Cincinnati's Accessibility Resources

The University of Cincinnati's Accessibility Resources office invites applications for the position of Director of Digital Accessibility Services. Reporting to the Executive Director for Accessibility and ADA Coordinator, this leadership role is situated within a university-wide unit dedicated to delivering comprehensive accessibility resources and services across all UC campuses.



The Director of Digital Accessibility Services provides strategic oversight of the digital accessibility team, which is responsible for coordinating accommodations ensuring students with disabilities have access to accessible course materials and content. In alignment with the expanded requirements of Title II, this position also plays a critical role in partnering with colleges and academic units across the university to build institutional capacity for accessible content creation and to advance a culture of proactive digital access.

Job Overview

Provide direction for and coordination of digital, electronic, and communication access auxiliary aids, services, and programs as required by federal and local mandates, to ensure access of students, employees, and guests with disabilities in all aspects of the university experience. Develop policies and procedures that promote an institutional commitment to understanding and addressing access needs on campus and in the digital and electronic campus environment.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure that the university hasappropriate policies, procedures, and personnel to support the delivery of digital and electronic access accommodations as required by federal, state, and local laws for students, employees, and visitors across all campuses.
  • Maintain compliance with federal andstatemandatesregardingaccommodation of qualified individuals with disabilities, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Requirements, Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and other relevant state and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Digital Technology Solutions, Marketing and Communications, the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, and other university partners to research current trends in assistive and accessible technology andparticipatein strategic planning for the Accessibility Network.
  • Recommendappropriate assistivetechnology, hardware, and/or specialized software based on the evaluation of individual needs; develop and deliver training to support students and employees in using assistive and accessible technology effectively.
  • Work withinappropriate divisionalfinancial procedures toinitiateand manage service agreements and invoices with third-party vendors delivering digital accessibility solutions essential to daily operations.
  • Design and implement data collection and assessment strategies to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of accessibility services.
  • Develop and oversee an annual budget and collaborate with the divisional business affairs unit to analyze data, calculate expense projections, and draft reports to ensure efficiency of services and forecast cost estimates for service delivery.
  • Provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff as well as third-party contractors, including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and approval of time off.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree inEducation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Instructional/Curriculum Design, Social Work, Information Technology, Communications, ASL/English Interpretation, Linguistics or related field


Nine (9)years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.


Required Experience

Five (5) years of related professional experience digital or electronic accessibility; instructional design or instructional technology; communication access service (ASL Interpreting/CART or Speech to Text); special education; rehabilitation counseling; accessible design; or a related field


Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Certification in specialty related to digital or electronic accessibility will be considered in lieu of formal education, such Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competency (CPACC).
  • Knowledge of disability law, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)Title II regulation changes and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Experience with course or instructional design or instructional technology.
  • Experience providing access services or support to individuals who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and/or visually impaired.
  • Demonstrated supervision of direct reports.
