Job Title: Business Process Consultant
Job Location: Tallahassee, FL (on-site)
Job Duration: 12 Month Contract + extensions
Job Tasks and Activities:
The Business Process Consultants are responsible for driving the alignment between business processes
and IT within the assigned program area. The ideal candidates are skilled in problem-solving, and possess a strong understanding of both business and technical environments, and are committed to continuous improvement. They will play a key role in analyzing and redesigning processes to optimize performance and will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that business needs align with IT solutions. The role requires strategic planning, project management, and communication skills, along with the capacity to mentor junior staff and oversee complex, multi-site projects.
The Business Process Consultants will enhance business unit performance by aligning processes with
the technology solutions deployed in the Department's application modernization efforts. The duties and responsibilities for this position include the following:



  • Perform in-depth systems process analysis, design, and simulate new processes to improve efficiency.


  • Identify gaps, develop measures for process performance, and transition the program area to improved processes.
  • Serve as the program area's technical expert by providing strategic advice to leadership on the future use of technology and process improvements.
  • Ensure solutions align with both current and future program goals.
  • Support the planning and prioritization of business process engineering activities, integrating business unit goals with Department objectives.
  • Ensure defined processes are communicated and provide assistance to the Department to understand process flows throughout the project lifecycle.


Required Experience:



  • A minimum of seven (7) years in IT, with at least four (4) years in process engineering, and two (2) years in project management.
  • Certification in Process Improvement Methodologies and demonstrated proficiency in methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), or Kaizen.
  • Strong skills in mapping out business processes, identifying bottlenecks, and analyzing inefficiencies.
  • Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or specialized business process modeling tools (e.g., Business Process Model and Notation [BPMN] software like Bizagi or ARIS).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.


Preferred Experience:



  • Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to the corrections Industry (e.g., Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 [HIPAA], Criminal Justice Information Services [CJIS] Security Standards, etc.).
  • Experience designing processes that comply with industry-specific standards.
